Thread starter Tiamat Start date Feb 23, Joined Feb 15, Messages 45 0. Hello guys! I'm new in OC and i'm trying to get my first spets on my old i5 I'm not trying to break any records here; just trying to learn for now.
I'm trying to dont mess up with the memory freq, neither the "on board gpu from i5 " config. Can u help me to check if everything is fine till now? I'm attaching an file describing everything that i know i'm suposed to monitor. I circled in red those things i'sure i have to keep an eye on, and circle in blue those ones that im in doubt about theyr meaning or even if i have to check it. Joined Oct 19, Messages 7, 1. Everything is well within normal range. The only setback youre going to really have though since you dont have a non K version processor, it means that it is locked and you wont be able to OC all that much.
Do u know wich seeting i should keep an eye, besides Vcore? CPU temps are a good thing to keep an eye on and dram voltage if you are manually overclocking.
Other than that, you should be in the clear. It's a locked processor. You probably wont be allowed to push it beyond what you are at with a non K version. Hand touched the cooler heat pipes at the base of the hot, long hand hold fails, two seconds. Probably degrees, but I'm not an expert in temperature measurement with the hand.
The idea is in the BIOS the temperature should be lower, because percent generally does not loaded. Maybe you know the answer? You agry one temperature??? Previous Post Next Post. Trending Posts. I know that the I5 is not an unlocked processor and that it won't get a crazy overclock, but I have an Asus P8PM Pro motherboard and I would like to over clock it to 3. If I were to do this how would I go about it, and if anyone knows if this is just Intel saying it is capped at 3.
Leaps-from-Shadows Splendid. Jan 10, 2, 1 21, You made two wrong choices for overclocking: 1. The i CPU. That means a maximum of 3.
The P8PM Pro mainboard. Where did you get 3. I haven't seen anything that says that speed is the limit. It would be nice if that was the case, but from what I've read it's not. Edit: Why are you even overclocking at all?
Most programs and games won't be any faster. May 2, 14, 90 75, 3, A few months ago I bought an i5 - yes I wish I had gotten the k but it's hard to read up on these things when you don't have a CPU in your computer. But seriously though, I would really appreciate some professional advise from people who understand this CPU and what it can do. I have a z68 motherboard if that helps? You bought low end Last edited: Nov 19, Mkilbride , Nov 19,
